Who or what is Klyqa?
Klyqa is a German company based in Hamburg that has set itself the task of developing and offering affordable, high-quality, simple and secure smart home solutions.
Klyqa's first products are Smart Lights - smart lamps in different designs. Other solutions from the areas of smart security and smart home appliances are already being implemented. You will soon be able to purchase these at favorable conditions from Klyqa, making your home even safer and more efficient.
Klyqa is also working on various solutions for your dog, cat or other small animals. Smart food dispensers (dog and cat feeders), water dispensers and a self-cleaning litter box are currently being developed. Our next product, the vacuum robot, is also helpful in pet households: Bye bye, pet hair and cat litter!
How do you pronounce Klyqa?
Some people pronounce it like Klika, others like Klüka. We don't want to tell anyone what to say, so you can call us whatever you like.
Although we prefer the version with 'i'. It reminds us of the good old "click" of an on/off switch.
However, all the voice assistants also have a say in pronunciation. Alexa , for example, pronounces us with an "i" and Siri currently prefers the "ü". Tastes and accents are different.
What is Smart Home?
The main goals of smart home solutions are to increase living comfort and quality of life, to make the home safer and to save energy through intelligent algorithms and solutions.
This happens through preset scenes and routines that can be quickly activated or deactivated via smartphone or voice assistant.
And don't forget: Smart Home is just fun. Especially when you surprise guests with great scenes like our Party Mode or Magic Mood.
Why is Klyqa cheaper than products of similar quality?
We completely avoid middlemen and thus save unnecessary additional and transport costs. You can only purchase our products online and only from us.
By using shorter routes, we also keep the ecological footprint of our products as small as possible.
What makes Klyqa more secure than many other smart home providers?
Since the beginning, security has been one of our main concerns. That's why at Klyqa we have rethought and redesigned many aspects of security.
Our initial research in the smart home environment quickly showed how many providers and devices neglect this topic. Poorly protected data, outdated software and negligence in the maintenance of servers and databases are the main causes of security gaps. So we started right there and made sure that with Klyqa you can rely not only on simple and intuitive operation, high-quality workmanship and perfect functionality, but also on optimal security and the best possible protection of your data.
We focus on these 5 building blocks for maximum security:
- State of the art encryption methods:
They are also called cryptography and ensure that all data is effectively protected from access and manipulation by third parties (e.g. hackers or bots). - Review of code and infrastructure by independent institutes (pentests):
Of course, we are convinced that we are doing our job correctly and well. But it is even more important to listen to what other experts say. That is why we have our software infrastructure checked by independent institutes for any vulnerabilities. This way we can guarantee even better protection of all data. - Hosting of all servers in Germany:
Your data is not simply “somewhere in the cloud”, but on particularly secure servers that are located and hosted in Germany. That is why it is subject to particularly strict requirements and guidelines – of course, we always work in accordance with the GDPR when it comes to data protection. - A team of the best developers in Germany:
Smart products and features can only come from smart minds. That's why at Klyqa we have some of the best developers in the country who are not only responsible for the cool features of our products, but also take care of their security every day. - Continuous updates:
Outdated software and the resulting security gaps are one of the main causes of leaked data and a loophole for hackers. And because smart home products are about very personal applications and areas - namely your home - it is particularly important to us to offer the best possible protection. That's why we regularly publish updates for our Klyqa app and all smart products. This way, the software always remains up to date with the latest technology - and therefore super secure.
What can I do to keep my smart home secure?
First and foremost, you should make sure that your software is always up to date. In concrete terms, this means that updates are important.
At Klyqa, we regularly release new app and firmware updates. Sometimes these include new features and functionalities for your Klyqa smart home products. Often, however, these are also so-called security updates that further improve the security of your products and the Klyqa app. After all, the same applies to technology and software as to us humans: you never stop learning!
A second point is your passwords. Since Klyqa is integrated into your WiFi, it is particularly important to use a secure password for your local network. So please no names of family members, pets or Grandma Uschi's date of birth. Instead, use a sequence of upper and lower case letters in combination with numbers and special characters. This will also make your WiFi super secure.
Why do you have a location query in your app?
So that our WiFi lamps can automatically connect to our app, they use the location data to search for devices in your WiFi network.
Don't worry, we don't actually ask for your location: Wi-Fi devices use location data (not to be confused with GPS) to connect to each other.
However, the warning must be displayed purely for legal reasons, as the combination of the names of the WLAN networks around you is unique and it would therefore theoretically be possible to use it to determine your location. However, this would require advanced espionage skills and, above all, a lot of time. In addition, this data is not forwarded to our servers. This is only about the communication between smartphones and Klyqa devices.
