Questions about sustainability

Is Klyqa climate neutral or climate positive?

Good question and clearly based on our calculations regarding compensation we could already say a lot.

But since we are only at the beginning and the first trees have only just been planted, we do not want to do that yet.

And we all need to do a lot more and plant a lot more. That will happen very quickly once Klyqa has found its way into more households, i.e. with every monthly or annual payment. And of course we also hope that you will use electricity and light more consciously with Klyqa.

Why is the energy efficiency class F and not A+? Does Klyqa already use the new EU energy label?

Yes! And we can proudly say: We are the first to already work with the new EU energy label.

For you this means: more transparency, honest information and optimal comparability.

At Klyqa, we strive to make our products as efficient as possible and give you full control and visibility. The new energy labels , also known as EU energy labels, are a great way to do this.

From March 1, 2021, they will be mandatory for large electrical appliances such as refrigerators, washing machines or dishwashers. For lamps, they will only be mandatory from September 1, 2021. From then on, you will see the new label on every product and on the corresponding pages on the Internet. It will ensure that you can recognize the most efficient products at first glance and can better compare products from different manufacturers. We are already working with it today and are making your life easier.

In addition to the gradation of energy efficiency classes from A to G (previously: A+++ to D), the new EU energy label is characterized by new calculation methods that are intended to give consumers a clearer and more honest picture.

We at Klyqa can only welcome this and are therefore implementing the innovations immediately. For you – and for our environment.

You can find more information about the new EU energy label here: http://klyqa.me/eceu2021 .

What is the deal with trees planted per payment?

With Klyqa it is very easy to do something for the climate. For every product sold, our partner Eden Projects plants a tree for us.

These are predominantly particularly fast-growing mangroves that are cultivated in tropical regions. Why mangroves? Well, there are several good reasons for that.

Like all trees, mangroves absorb and bind carbon dioxide (CO2) from the air, making them the most effective and natural solution in the fight against climate change and global warming.

Mangroves grow particularly quickly – sometimes even twice as fast as other tropical woods. They are therefore ideal for absorbing large amounts of CO2 in a short space of time and converting it into oxygen, among other things, during photosynthesis.

To be more precise: an average mangrove tree removes over 300 kilograms of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere over the course of its life.

The saltwater-resistant trees are also an important part of the tropical ecosystem and usually grow on the coasts either in the water or on very swampy ground. They are an important spawning ground for fish or shrimp, thus having a positive impact on fishing and even offering effective protection against tsunamis and storm surges, as they break large waves early before they hit the land.

So there are many good reasons for many new mangrove trees. And the more people use Klyqa, the more mangroves will be planted by Eden Projects.

Who is this Eden?

With Eden Projects, we plant one tree for every product sold in the fight against climate change.

Eden Reforestation Projects is a non-profit organization that works to rebuild natural landscapes destroyed by deforestation in developing countries. Eden works directly with villages and communities whose livelihoods are affected by deforestation and forest destruction.

What can we achieve with Eden?

Deforestation is a global phenomenon. Slash-and-burn agriculture, unsustainable agriculture, and everyday destruction of forests in communities are all contributing factors to deforestation.

The serious consequences of excessive deforestation are already visible today. Floods, erosion, desertification and species extinction are just some of the far-reaching consequences.

Eden offers local support by training people from the affected countries to become “reforesters”. The regular income enables people to support their families and at the same time make a significant contribution to the climate.

Why mangroves? Mangroves absorb two to four times more carbon than comparable tropical forests and have the highest carbon density of all terrestrial ecosystems. They are an important part of the coastal ecosystem and ensure good sediment regulation and protection from storms and tsunamis.

For more information, you can also browse the Eden Reforestation Projects website.

How can I be sure that you really plant trees?

As a partner of Eden Reforestation Projects, we commit to donating a portion of the proceeds from every product sold on our website.

We donate the money needed to plant a tree (when selling a product) to reforestation.

Based on this contract, we are listed here as a partner of Eden:

https://edenprojects.org/partners/seed-partners-4/

Since we are still at the beginning, we are currently still among the Seed Partners. With your help, we hope to soon become Sapling, Grove Partner, Forest or at some point Ecosystem Partner.

Together with other partners, for example, we were able to plant over 700 million trees around the world in 2020. (Source: https://edenprojects.org/our-approach/ )
